A shameless plug for the World Orthodontic Congress 2015

A shameless promotion for the 8th World Orthodontic Congress to be held in London 2015

I have been taking a short break over the last week and not had much time to write a blog, I am also spending some time writing a long(ish) blog about cephalometrics. As a result, I thought that I should give the opportunity to the Jonathan Sandler, who is Chair of the next World Orthodontic Congress to provide some information on this important event.

WFO 2015

Kev 5I would urge you all to go straight to your diaries and strike out September 25 to September 30, 2015.  This is the occasion of the 8th International Orthodontic Congress, which is going to be the most exciting orthodontic conference ever held.

The scientific committee of the Congress has invited 30 of the best orthodontic speakers worldwide to fill two whole days of parallel keynote sessions.  In addition, we will be running two full days of short 10 minute presentations, so anybody keen to contribute to the World Orthodontic Conference should have their abstract ready for July 1st when submissions open.

In addition, we will be running dedicated programs for orthodontic assistants and therapists, as well as a dedicated technicians program with world-class speakers on both programmes. This is clearly an event not to be missed by the entire orthodontic team.  We have arranged discounts for team bookings and registration for the conference will open from July 2014, so please keep an eye on the website

An exciting pre-congress course on ‘Auto transplantation of Teeth’ has just been organised, to be given by two world experts in this technique and we expect this to be a ‘sell out’ event.

Kev 1The social program for the 8th IOC is also going to be truly amazing. We have booked Two of London’s most popular venues, Madame Tussaud’s and the Natural History Museum  for the exclusive use of the delegates of the 8th International Orthodontic Congress. As attendance at these social events will be limited, I urge you to make your bookings for the social functions as soon as you can. The gala dinner will be held at all Old Billingsgate market which is one of London’s most popular venues for large formal dinners and this will be a truly fitting end to what we hope will be a spectacular meeting, talked about for many years to come.

The purpose of the WFO is to advance the art and science of orthodontics throughout the world by:

  1. Encouraging high standards in orthodontics throughout the world.
  2. Encouraging and assist in the formation of national societies
  3. Assisting in the formation of national and regional certifying boards
  4. Promote orthodontic research.
  5. Disseminate scientific information.
  6. Promote desirable standards of training and certification

All of these objectives will, hopefully, be met by your participation in this truly exciting event.

For those Rugby aficionados, the World cup starts one week before the Congress and continues for 2 weeks afterwards so please use this opportunity to enjoy this sporting spectacle.

For more information about the Congress please visit the website We look forward to seeing you and your team in London in September 2015. Come to London and see the World Smile!
