About this orthodontic blog?
I started this orthodontic blog in late 2013. It has been very popular with over 3 million hits since then. The most popular post has been the light-hearted discussion of “24-month braces”. Others popular post are “New evidence on the treatment of canine impaction” and “Let’s talk about Acceledent“. This interest convinced me to make this a source of information and discussion that is relevant to everybody with an interest in orthodontics. My blog is becoming quite extensive. If you want to look up a particular subject, just click on the relevant search word in the search box.

Something about us
Kevin is Emeritus Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Manchester, UK. He has worked as a clinical orthodontist, teacher and researcher for about 30 years. His research was directed at the outcome of orthodontic treatment using randomised trial methodology and has been included in several systematic reviews. He has given many keynotes lectures at international conferences. He has been awarded the Northcroft Memorial and Ballard Lectures of the British Orthodontic Society, the Dewel and Turpin awards and the Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial International Teachers and Research Award by the American Association of Orthodontists. He gave the first Proffit Lecture at the AAO Congress in 2018.
Padhraig is Professor of Orthodontics at Queen Mary University of London. He also works in private practice on a part-time basis. He is an Associate Editor of American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, British Dental Journal, Journal of Dentistry and Progress in Orthodontics and is on the editorial board of numerous other journals. He has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers and has received the Chapman Prize from the British Orthodontic Society and the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Award from the American Association of Orthodontists. He has co-authored three successful orthodontic textbooks: ‘Clinical Cases in Orthodontics’, ‘Functional Appliances:Theory and Practice’ and in 2019 ‘Fixed Orthodontic Appliances: A practical guide’.
